2021 Ferrari Engine not fast
‘Superfast’: Early Leaks of Ferrari’s 2021 F1 Engine Hint at Disappointment
Ferrari dropped in their performance after a ruling in Austin GP in 2019. Ferrari might soon become a metaphor for a constructor’s downfall in Formula 1.
Following their atonement, Ferrari have suffered at the mercy of a woeful season this time around. With teams across the grid continuously improving, the challenges keep on piling up for the Maranello-based outfit.
However, the SF1000 showed some massive splashes of hopes at the Turkish Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc drove the Ferrari to some respectful finishes. Meanwhile, Sebastian Vettel struggled throughout the season. But both the drivers finished Top-5 in the Istanbul Park.
Ferrari team boss, Mattia Binotto, talked about the team’s focus for next season to Motorsport Italy. He clarified that the priority next year is to fight for the podiums once again.
In a recent interview, Binotto discussed Ferrari’s power unit development for the next season.
Ferrari looks forward to positive power unit changes
Mattia Binotto was positive about the 2021 engine development. He believes that the power unit should be able to fill the power gaps with Mercedes’ power unit. Meanwhile, the team is looking forward to some interesting innovations.
Reports stated, “At the moment the data says that the unit expresses the same horsepower of the power unit of this year, but it is a 6-cylinder engine, son of the one that is racing, while solutions are expected before the approval of the engine next season.”
The reports stated, “The engine will adopt a combustion chamber capable of ensuring a combustion phase with very fast ignition times.”
The 2021 engine will improve the exhaust and combustion of the power unit. According to the rumors, “There will be an intervention to also improve the recovery of electricity from the MGU-H with a turbo that will be slightly smaller to favor a faster response time.
“In short, Ferrari will not make a revolution: it is excluded that turbo and compressor are spaced as Mercedes and Honda have chosen, at Maranello they preferred not to affect the architecture of the power unit, but the novelty puzzle should result in an increase in power (especially for average values) of about thirty horses,” read the report.
Unfortunately for Ferrari fans, there is no miracle waiting. Expect some novel changes. However, it is not enough to get back to its previous form. Let us hope that Ferrari will be fighting for podiums more often in the next season.
