Dutch Quali : Max on Pole at home
Max Verstappen gets another Pole, this time at the home Dutch GP. Norris gets a nice P2, Russell P3 and Albon P4.
Max Magic at Dutch Quali
The summer break is over and Max continues with his winning ways. He was doing well in the practice sessions but was not 100% in touch with the car and the track. Still Max pulled it off when it mattered the most. With the changing conditions, it is always tricky when to put on the slicks as it makes a huge difference in the track time. In the final run Max was more than half a second ahead of Norris, easily making it to the pole. It will not be surprising to find Max run off at the start and comfortably win his home race and equaling Vettel’s record of consecutive records.
His team-mate Sergio Perez continues to struggle after the summer break. He couldn’t get in touch with the car and finished a lowly P7. Again, he will have to play the catch-up game and hope to reach the podium.
McLaren top form continues
McLaren is showing that their good form is not just a one-off race event. They are now consistently on the top. Lando Norris in fact was doing spectacularly well in the practice session and the Quali such that he was on pole, had it not for Max’s final lap. Lando would be looking forward to starting at the front row and would be hoping for Max to make a mistake. Oscar meanwhile was looking in good touch but couldn’t stitch a lap together when it mattered. He will be starting P8.
Mercedes and Aston struggling
George Russell and Lewis Hamilton had very different outcomes as they took different paths. Hamilton struggled with the traffic and was out in Q2. He will be starting P13. George meanwhile managed to string together a great lap when it mattered and managed an impressive P3.
Alonso managed a P5 and looks happy with an upgrade in performance. Meanwhile Stroll managed a P11.
Williams in top form
The surprise package of the Quali session was Williams as both the drivers managed to get into Q3. Albon managed a super-impressive P4. Logan unfortunately had a crash in Q3 and will be starting P10.
Another person suffering crash was Charles LeClerc in Q3 and he will be starting P9. Sainz managed to do better and will be starting P6. Both the Ferraris managed to struggle to come to grips with the track.
