Hungary GP: Max wins 7 in a row

Yet another victory for Max Verstappen in Hungary, making it a record 12th consecutive win for Red Bull. Lando came P2 and Perez stormed in at P3.

Mega Max in Hungary

He may have started P2 but Max got a fantastic start and was ahead of Pole sitter Hamilton at turn 1. From that point there was no turning back and Max easily won the race in Hungary. That make is a crazy 7th win in a row and a record breaking 12th consecutive win for Red Bull. The purple patch for Max and Red Bull sees no end in sight with half of the season still remaining. Both the driver’s and constructor’s championship is pretty much in their bag.

Team-mate Sergio Perez also had a good race as he stormed in from P9 to finish on the podium at P3. This would be a good boost to his confidence as he struggled to even get into Q3 in the past few races. However the between him and Max in the Championship is too much and there are signs of Max relenting anytime in the near future.

McLaren magic continues in Hungary

Lando Norris did not get a good start and he slipped from P3 to P4 with team-mate Oscar slipping ahead at the start. Oscar even maintained a good race pace and was comfortably ahead of Lando. But then Lando pulled off a stunning undercut to get ahead of Oscar and then there was no looking back. Towards the end the Mercedes came alive again with Hamilton overtaking Oscar to finish P4. Lando did have a threat from a rampaging Red Bull of Sergio but the Mexican ran out of laps to overtake him. Overall, McLaren would be very happy given their situation when the season began as they were struggling to even get out of Q1.

Mercedes not yet a race winner

There have been just too many false flags from the Silver Arrows. Yesterday Lewis Hamilton drove the socks out of his car to snatch a surprise pole. But then Max overtook him as the race started and he fell behind the two McLarens. It was a struggle to even keep up with the Papaya team. However the car did come alive towards the end when there is less fuel in the car. Lewis was quick to get ahead of Oscar and end a respectable P4. George Russell meanwhile did an excellent job coming in from P18 and finishing an impressive P6. Still Mercedes needs a lot of work to do if they want to be fighting for race wins.

Ferrari fizzle

Carlos Sainz was very impressive as he moved quickly at the start on his Softs from P11 to P6. He was able to hold on to it but then the Red team just lacked the race pace. LeClerc was holding on well too but a slow pit stop and a 5-second penalty for speeding in the pitlane just ruined his race. LeClerc finished P7 and Sainz P8. Ferrari just can’t put a race together.

Aston Martin sliding back

Aston started the year with a bang, being the second best car to Red Bull. Alonso even became a regular at the podium. They are however sliding back or rather other teams have caught up. Alonso couldn’t find the pace and ended up at P9 with team-mate Stroll at P10.

Meanwhile the Alpine duo had a disaster start and both were DNF again after the first lap. Another disaster was for Alfa Romeo as Zhou got a bad start and Valtteri too couldn’t keep up the race pace. Daniel Ricciardo had a decent race but he needs a lot of work to do. Albon just missed out on points as he finished P11.
