Miami GP : First win for Lando

Lando wins his first F1 race, here in Miami. It took him 111 tries but it happened. Max could not chase him and had to settle for P2.

Lando : McLaren Magic in Miami

McLaren got the upgrades for Miami and everyone was hoping for McLaren to do well. The put up a good performance in the practice sessions and Lando was super-quick in Q2 of Quali. But how good the pace was there was not seen until the main Race. Max was on Pole and Charles P2. At the first turn Sergio Perez over-shot and almost took out the two Ferraris. In all of this it was the other McLaren driver Oscar Piastri who got ahead and was comfortably in the P2 position. McLaren had such good pace that he ensured that Max could not just run away from the pack. However he was extremely unlucky with a bad safety car timing and then his front wing was broken by Carlos Sainz. He had to pit one extra time and ended up going to the back.

In all of this Lando Norris shown through. He had decent pace in the starting but the Safety Car just worked perfectly for him. Soon he was leading the race when just a few laps ago he was P5. However that is not the entire story. After the restart Lando managed to keep Max behind him. In fact Lando’s pace was so good that he increased the gap to more than 6 seconds by the time the race got over. Lando has had many near misses on snatching the top spot, especially in Russia. However this time he made in happen in Miami.

Red Bull : Magic missing in Miami

Red Bull have been in the news for all the wrong reasons of late. First it was all the controversy surrounding Christian Horner. Then it was the bombshell news of Adrian Newey is leaving the team. However their car is mighty and Max Verstappen is in the form of his life. Things were different in Miami. Max was on top of everything but still managed to get the Pole and win the Sprint. As the race started he managed to stay ahead but was not able to pull away from the McLaren of Oscar Piastri. Then in the second half he was not able to catch up to Norris.

RedBull have some work to do, given that Newey is leaving the team now. Checo did an ok job and he finished P4 in the race, although Red Bull would have expected him to do better.

Fair Ferrari

Ferrari came to Miami wearing blue but there was not different in the pace and the performance. Charles LeClerc did a better job in qualifying and got P2. In the race though Lando out-shined both the Red Bulls and the Ferraris. This is a very concerning thing for Ferrari and they would be hoping to get their upgrades as soon as possible. Carlos Sainz did a pretty average job this weekend as he finished P5.

Lewis Hamilton finished P6, Yuki finished P7, George P8, Alonso P9 and Ocon got the first and only point for Alpine at P10.
