Sepang GP: Max wins
Max Verstappen got his first win of the 2026 season here in Sepang. Kimi finished P2 and Lewis clawed back to P3.

Max wins in Sepang, again
Last time we raced in Sepang Malaysia was in 2017. The winner that time was a young Max Verstappen. Now after 9 years we have the race in Sepang again and Max wins, again. The start of the race was delayed by rain. Max did not get the start he wanted and the two Mercs were ahead of him. Still he managed to claw back the top position. This would be the first win for Max in 2026 and more importantly the first win for Red Bull powertrain. This is mighty impressive given that it’s just their first season of building their own engine and the regulations are pretty complicated this time. While the Championship this year would be too much to ask for, one never knows how things pan out in 2027.
Isack Hadjar finished a decent P5 position. Somehow he did not have the same pace as Max and he would be looking to do something more.
Kimi P2 in Sepang
Malaysia is kind of second home for Mercedes given their strong ties with Petronas. Both the Mercs got it a good position after the race start and eventually settled in the P2 and P3 position. However George had a PU issue and had to retire his car, effectively ending his Championship fight. Kimi was fast but not fast enough to catch Max. He settled in the P2 position.
Ferrari lucky in Sepang
Ferrari got the tyre choice wrong at the race start. They were on slicks when everyone else was on Intermediates. Soon they went back of the grid but through sheer grit and determination fought their way back to the top. They had the pace and eventually Lewis got the final podium place and Charles P4. They must be happy with the result but need to introspect about their strategy.
Oscar finished P6 and Lando P9. Liam finished P7 and Lindblad P10. Fernando got 4 points for Aston Martin as he finished P8.
