Monaco GP : 5 wins for Kimi

Kimi had a spectacular weekend in Monaco as he finished on top. Lewis secured P2 whereas Isack got the P3 spot.

Kimi in control in Monaco

When the practice sessions started it was Ferrari which seemed to be on top of things. However by FP3 session it was Mercedes which had clawed back. Even then Kimi looked very much in the groove but George not so much. In the Quali it was Kimi who got the Pole position whereas George was left stranded behind.

The race was not an easy one. Kimi got a good start and was in the lead throughout. However there were safety cars, red flags and restarts. Kimi managed it all very well and came out as the youngest winner of Monaco GP. George Russell was left wondering again what had gone wrong. It was a mix of bad luck and a lack of confidence. Both feed into each other and you tend to spiral downwards. Things sometimes do not go well by sheer luck and then you start losing your confidence. George running low on confidence could not push as much as Kimi. He started from behind and then there were a few penalties for speeding in the pitlane and then not fulfilling the penalty requirements. Eventually he was out of the points whereas Kimi scored the maximum 25. As of now the gap between George and Kimi is a whooping 68 points. While the season is long it will be very difficult for George to cover up and fight for the Championship.

Ferrari points in Monaco

It was a race of contrast for the two Ferrari drivers. Lewis started in P3 and looked good. However he was never in a position to challenge the Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli and so settled for P2. Charles looked good in P3 but a brake failure meant he ran into the barriers and that ended the race for home boy. Charles has just extended his Ferrari contract but is running low on confidence. Lewis meanwhile is feeling much better in this car as compared to last year. If he gets a good car then he can certainly fight for wins.

Red Bull issues in Monaco

Max Verstappen pulled off another stunning lap in Quali as he was just 0.048 seconds behind Pole sitter Kimi. It all turned into a disaster when he had engine issues at the race start and had to retire the car soon. He must be very much disappointed as there was so much promise. Isack Hadjar also had power issues throughout the race but he ended up finishing P3. So he will take the points and be very happy with it.

The race was all chaos. Oscar stayed away from disaster and finished P4. Lando had power issues and DNF. Both the Racing Bulls scored points in P5 and P6. Gasly crossed the chequered flag P3 but due to penalties ended up P7. Albon finished P8, Ocon P9 and Alonso got the final but the first points for Aston Martin in P10 as Perez got penalties.
